What our customers say about their holidays

We absolutely loved it at Lanthorn Cottage.
The 200 year old cottage is lovely, and the long garden was perfect for our dog to run up and down with a ball. The summer house was used by us daily, for reading a book or watching an ipad in the lovely peaceful surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room was cozy in the evenings. The beach was a short 10 minute walk away, through a field with a public footpath, turning left as you come out of the cottage road onto Grub Street, and then turn right off of Grub Street when you see the opening of the field. There's a clear walkway through the field, and then walk along the back of the caravan park and keep heading towards the lighthouse (zoom in on google maps or google earth, you can clearly see the footpath). There is a Tesco about 15 minutes drive away, but we've been to Eccles on Sea previously so knew our way around the area. I would always say to people who are looking to book a holiday anywhere, to do your research before finally booking. Although Sykes wont give you the full address of the cottage prior to your full payment being made, it does show you where the property is on the map and it's not that difficult to work out where the cottage is from the image shown on the website, or you can google the rough address and see whats local to the cottage, and where the beach is. I would say that we will probably be back to Lanthorn Cottage at some point, as we loved how quiet it was there, surrounded by fields and birdsong. The Housekeeper Siobhan was amazing, she gave us all the information we needed before we got there and nothing was too much trouble, not that we had any problems at all. The only reason we contacted her was to ask a couple of questions before we arrived and to thank her when we left. All in all, we would highly recommend Lanthorn Cottage.

What a wonderful location for a relaxing holiday - the road to the cottage stops there, so there is no through traffic, just a few ramblers and dog walkers passing. Cottage itself has wonderful sea views, both from the front, and also from the conservatory at the back of the property, and is about five minutes walk away from the sea. The property was fully stocked with everything we needed, be sure check the cupboards in the living room and the utility room for lots of games, jigsaws, books and DVDs. The house book has several circular walks listed, varying in distance. The bed was firm and very comfortable to sleep in.. There is a general store & post office combined on the sea front, about 10 minutes walk away, and an excellent chip shop (Kingfisher) a little further on. Nearest supermarket is Sainsbury's in North Walsham, which is about a 15 minute drive away. Two pubs within walking distance - The Lighthouse and, our favourite, the Poacher's Pocket, a sea-front dog-friendly pub with plenty of outside seating, both about 15 minutes walk, or a 5 minute drive. As an added bonus, there are deer which graze on the grass in front of the property in the early hours of the morning, some nights we had bats flying around the cottage at dusk, and my wife saw a seal swimming in the sea - there are also many different species of birds to be seen in the garden and the grass in front of the property. Would recommend this to anyone as an excellent holiday location.

Stated electric log effect fire but just central heating. Excellent location, outlook to sea or fields at almost every outlook. Ideal location for walks and beaches. Was disappointed that there was no baking trays to use in the oven when it is a self catering cottage. Overall cleanliness not too bad but oven was quite grimy and also drawers in bedroom were not very clean, the left hand side bedside cabinet looked like crumbs in and the drawer with hairdryer had all loose hairs in. Generally a very comfy and compact property but the pipe from the bath leaked into conservatory , so mop and bucket required frequently. Because of location and Seaview expected to pay a higher price but felt it was lacking a few pieces of equipment or features. We book with holiday cottages.com regularly which I believe you are amalgamating with, and have generally been happy with service. The only clause we don't like is that both cottages booked with original cottages is that we have had to pay a non refundable damage fee. We are a 56 and 66 year old couple who aren't going to be wrecking properties. Whereas with holiday cottages this is optional. The above re the cottage are not criticisms and we had a fantastic week but we did leave comments in the guest book too.

Nice character cottage. Very well equipped, nicely decorated and fairly spacious. There was a lovely welcome pack, milk, wine, crisps, jam, tea and coffee as well as a delicious home made cake. There are varying floor levels throughout so you have to step up and down when moving from room to room. The courtyard garden is paved and has some outdoor seating and a gravel pathway, which our dog didnt like at all. There is no on site parking, which caused us some issues. We did experience traffic noise from parents dropping off and picking up children from school. The dog friendly pub is close by and is interesting as is the landlord. There was considerable late night noise over the weekend as the pub had a beer festival, but it was quieter during the week. The cottage is conveiently located near to the cliff top path and easy walk to the lighthouse and beach. The local shop is within easy walking distance as is a wonderful Fair Maiden fresh fish shop. A mobile fish and chip van, Coastal Chippy, calls at the Manor Caravan Park. Nearby Stalham has restsurants and a supermarket. Camberley is well situated in the centre of the village and has all you need for a lovely holiday.

Property in lovely situation, warm and clean. Lovely view. Needs a bit of tic though, Bathroom needs a fixed mirror, really difficult to see in tiny shaving mirror. No towel rail just hook on back of door. Mirror in bedroom not located anywhere near a power point, impossible to see to dry/style hair. No hooks to hang wet outdoor coats. Conservatory in poor condition, roof patched badly, windowsill fixed with sticky tape. Smoke alarm fixed with sticky tape? does it work properly in this condition. Bathroom door lock fixed sticky tape, table top in conservatory held on with sticky tape. Gutter fixed sticky tape. It is a real pity that the owner seems to be so penny pinching when it comes to maintaining this property as it could be lovely. Kitchen and bathroom flooring not stuck down around edges and thresholds, could be a real trip hazard. Bathroom hot tap leaks all the time and really difficult to turn off fully. Overall if mirror situation was rectified and repairs done not just taped, floor glued down, this would be excellent but could not recommend.
