What our customers say about their holidays

Had the Potential to be Good. The location within the countryside was great for peace & quiet and observing wildlife from the windows - lots of pheasants all over the place. It is close to the coast & easy to visit the main places we wanted to : Southwold, Sutton Hoo, Aldeburgh & Thorpeness. It was spacious enough inside but we had a few niggles - It needs some homely touches - pictures, rug, some colour on the walls. It felt cold & unwelcoming. The website shows cushions on the sofas but they were not there so we used the spare pillows instead. There were no tea towels but there wasn't a draining board for the kitchen sink either so nowhere to stack dishes washed by hand. The beds all had duvets & covers that were a size too small e.g. Kingsize bed but must be a double duvet & cover, not good on colder nights, same for the singles beds. Plenty of hot water & the heating was adequate although took longer to react as it's an air source heat pump. We couldn't find any instructions for the heating except "adjust the temperature" but didn't say how. We did work out how to operate the controls but others wrote in the Visitors Book that they couldn't use the heating & were cold. The Freezer was in the Utility room, in a side building but better planning could surely have included it in the kitchen area? Biggest problem - the Freezer was unusable when we arrived as it was frozen solid, the door wouldn't close & the drawers were iced up. The ice & frost would have built up over time & should have been defrosted well before reaching that state. This "freezer frozen solid" was actually mentioned in the Visitors Book by the people who were there the previous week but either the book was not read, the freezer not checked (as a matter of course) or totally ignored. As we expected to be able to use the freezer, we defrosted it ourselves throughout the Sunday. That meant mopping up drips then drying inside which took several hours & throwing away the frozen food we'd brought with us.

We recently spent an all too short weekend at Kub House, it was lovely!
It had everything we needed and more, its in a very quiet and private area, totally separate from the owners house by quite a distance compared to other holiday cottages within owners grounds, you feel you have a high degree of privacy, it has its own totally separate drive and parking area which I think is undersold in the listing, Kub House doesn't really feel like its within the owners property as such. The bed is VERY comfy with great pillows, we both slept extremely well, which is unusual for us when we go away!, plus there's an excellent shower to wake up to. The kitchen area and facilities were all of high quality and everything you could need was there, including milk, coffee and biscuits etc, thank you again Karen. Very comprehensive and interesting information was provided, its well worth a read, they certainly covered all bases there!. The local farm shop and cafe was worth a visit, the breakfasts are awesome, don't snack before hand!. There has been negative feedback in the past re the boiler making noise on occasion, we were both apprehensive about this, but are happy to say it has been somewhat over exaggerated to say the least, the only reason we could rarely and barely notice it at all was because we went out of our way to try to hear it!, after that it wasn't noticed. Although the garden area isn't huge, it is lovely, beautifully kept, peaceful and again private. The attention to detail and quality of Kub House was very pleasing. Karen was always available by phone if needed, although we had no reason to contact her, Karen went out of her way to help us with an issue we had at the end of our stay that had nothing to do with the property, which was very much appreciated, thank you again. We usually don't do do reviews because there's often as many negatives as positives to report, on this occasion we both felt strongly that Kub House and Karen deserved a very strong thumbs up! C & R

Our recent stay at Aspen Lodge in Whitby was nothing short of extraordinary.
Nestled in a serene location near The Stables at Cross Butts, the lodge offers the perfect blend of tranquility and charm. The picturesque countryside views set the tone for a peaceful and rejuvenating long weekend away. The lodge itself was a haven of comfort. Thoughtfully designed, it boasted cosy interiors that made it feel like a home away from home. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the plush furnishings to the immaculate cleanliness. Waking up each morning to the soft glow of the sunrise filtering through the windows was a daily delight, making it hard to leave the comfort of the bed. Location-wise, Aspen Lodge is unbeatable. The proximity to The Stables was a unique and enchanting aspect of the stay. This location offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The surrounding area is a treasure trove of natural beauty, with scenic trails and coastal views just a short distance away. Now, letâs talk about the food and drink at The Stables â absolutely top-notch! Every meal was a culinary delight, showcasing the best of local produce. Breakfasts were hearty and wholesome, perfect for setting you up for a day of exploration. Dinners were a gourmet experience, with dishes that could easily rival those of a high-end restaurant. Paired with a carefully curated selection of wines, each meal was an indulgence that left me looking forward to the next. In conclusion, Aspen Lodge in Whitby offers an idyllic retreat that combines the best of location, comfort, and culinary excellence. Whether youâre looking for a quiet getaway or an adventure in the stunning Whitby surroundings, this lodge is the perfect choice. I left feeling completely refreshed and already dreaming of my next visit.

Lovely property apart from no WiFi all weekend with three teenagers!
!! Property was lovely, newly done out with high quality fittings, thoughtfully decorated and well considered, spacious and comfortable for a lodge and spotlessly clean. Hot tub was running when we got there on large decked area and remained at a pleasant consistent temperature of 35 degrees. The property is located at the top of a hill and is very peaceful on top of a hill. As you walk or drive down the hill there are some stunning views of the Llyn Pennisula. Everyone happy with the property until the realisation that the WiFi advertised in the brochure and on the sign up to the property was none existent within the property and only accessed down the dirt path leading up to it. As 50 somethings we were okay with this but definitely an issue for three teenagers who had been told would have WiFi as advertised. We tried to contact the owners on the numbers provided and were unable to the first night then told the owners were away and given another number but still no response so had no WiFi for the whole weekend If you are ok with no WiFi I would recommend the property itself which as I said is really lovely and in a great spot to explore the beautiful Llyn but if this is something that is important to members of the group would unfortunately say to reconsider.

Just returned home from a lovely break in Wales.
Lovely lodge in a lovely location with beautiful views. The lodge was clean, beautifully furnished & had a fantastic hot tub. Unfortunately the hot tub took about 5 hours to reach temperature after arrival as it wasnât switched on. We took our 2 dogs with us but the lodge isnât completely secure but that wasnât a problem as we were able to block the entrance to the decking easily to ensure they wouldnât run off. Provided in the lodge were cleaning products, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand soap, towels, bedding, family board games and a washing airer, which were all very welcomed. The reason why Iâve only rated it a 9/10 was because although it was described as having WiFi, it did not work. Unfortunately with 2 small children who get bored easily, this was a bit of a problem as there isnât any signal in the area so kids were unable to use tablets, or use the apps on the smart TV or Google nest. Overall, I would stay again as itâs a lovely lodge but the WiFi could do with being looked at.
