What our customers say about their holidays
Testimonial - Verified booking
"Probably the best view we've ever had of any holiday villa we've stayed at, this includes the south of France, lake district, Devon, Germany etc.
Just amazing! The house was very comfortable and had some little touches that we really loved - binoculars, really well equipped kitchen and lots of mugs, so you don't constantly have to wash up. The large fridge freezer was great and made sure we enjoyed the best of the local produce. The beds were all really comfortable and the linen good so we all slept really well. Carbis Bay is a great location, really quiet being residentail but a short walk to St Ives for all the hustle and bustle, perfect. Porthmeor beach cafe - we saw two seals swimming past whilst eating some of the best tapas and fish I've ever had . Magical! The Queens hotel St Ives - we pitched up on a rainy night and had some wonderful food, check out the menu it is just superb. And then to top it of they had an open mic night, a great time for everyone. Godolphin - we went for the bluebells and spent a great time at the property having a tour of the house and enjoying the local arts and crafts at the food and crafts fair.Glendurgan gardens - beautiful and with a great history.Clamoring over the rocks at Godrevy point and again we were joined by a seal for just a few minutes but they were very special moments. We always find Cornwall a special pace but this property made sure we could make the most of out time, even if just walking down to the beach and watching the waves roll in." Wonderful property, just what we needed for our party for our daughter's wedding!
She stayed with us and left from there on the wedding morning looking gorgeous! One bathroom between 6 was sometimes challenging but we knew each other well enough that used the ensuite bathroom as second one for anyone. Gas BBQ worked a treat. Though we had no times for games, a comment in guest book alerted us to the amazing boardgames, etc. in the table in the living room - maybe highlight that much more clearly for future guests? Both toilets just occasionally continued flushing for a long time; I lifted lid of cistern of one and managed to do something (not sure what!) to stop it happening. One pint glass broken but able to let owner know - disposed of it in domestic waste wheelie bin. The recycling bag not quite able to hold all the recycling we generated. We chose the property as my husband is disabled and the access to the large ensuite bedroom via the French windows was fantastic. There is a tiny step into the ensuite bathroom and 2 steps up to the kitchen but with help he was fine. Otherwise, the downstairs is on one level, with wide doors and passageways. From the listing's wording, it wasn't too clear which bedrooms upstairs and downstairs had option of twin beds. Local 24-hour garage 2 minutes away had a very useful shop. All in all, a marvellous place to stay, have left us with happy memories, thank you! Would highly recommend it.

We have just arrived home from our stay at Monica and Ians beautiful farmhouse which was very large with ample room for our 6 guests and hosted a lovely view overlooking a pig and her piglets!
We were able to purchase lovely free range eggs from Monica on sight which were enjoyed by all of us. The beds were very comfortable and the shower facilities were lovely. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is lack of clarity when bringing our 4 dogs to the property. In accordance with Sykes cottages: dogs are not allowed on the furniture which is absolutely fine and fully understandable. The issue we had was with the dogs not being allowed upstairs. As all of the bedrooms are located upstairs it would mean that all 4 of our dogs had to be downstairs, unsupervised in a strange new place that they weren't familiar with. The upstairs was fully wooden floor wirh no carpets or rugs so it was baffling as to why they weren't allowed upstairs. One of us would have to sleep downstairs with the dogs every night so they were not alone. In complete honesty, if this has been known to us prior to booking, we may have perhaps explored other properties. One of our dogs was a 5 month old puppy that probably would have taken to howling if left alone in a new property. A second issue we experienced was that, although the garden was secure, an able dog could have easily jumped over the fence and gone on a wander! In this case it may be advisable to let customers know to bring a long line to have their dogs on in the garden.

This is the third time we have stayed at the premises, the father in law booked the previous visits, and every time the place is spotless and well kept.
Minimal damage wear and tear over the years. The paintwork is still clean and fresh, as is the tilings and fixtures in the bathrooms. No mold or mildew or stained grout anywhere! Clean and crisp. The facilities are excellent. The host is lovely and helpful, Fresh eggs on site, lovely bits upon welcome( tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, scourers etc) , the kitchen is well stocked with enough cutlery and crockery and utensils for 8 people for a functionable holiday let property not a professionals chefs suite. People complaining about not having a colander or grater are being picky. The fridge freezer is a very decent size and the bonus of a washing machine helps! Great tv and WiFi. Depending on the proximity of where youâre sleeping, and how much of a deep sleeper you are, you may be woken by the cockerel in the morning. Take ear plugs if your a light delicate sleeper. The bedding and towels are clean and crisp. Overall excellent property in an excellent location and we will be returning in the future.

"We really enjoyed our week in Carbis Bay.
Chy Lowen was beautiful, home from home and had everything we could wish for. We liked the open plan living area and the fact that all the bedrooms had a bathroom. It was in a lovely location with wonderful sea views. Very convenient to join the coastal path and walk the very scenic route in to St Ives or down to Carbis Bay beach. The nearest footpath to do this is just down the road in Parc Owles. All the beaches around here are lovely, Porthkidney is just round from Carbis Bay Beach where dogs can go all year round, although they can go on Carbis Bay beach before 8 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Lots of nice restaurants but we would highly recommend having a meal at Porthminster Beach Cafe and we also had a nice meal at The Captainâs Table which is upstairs in The Sloop Inn. Itâs a nice walk in to St Ives in the evening and easy to get a taxi back to the house if too late to walk back. We had a wonderful week with lots of walking and look forward to coming back again soon." J. Davies
