Beckstones Yard is a very comfortable, spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and very well equipped holiday cottage. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, and everything in there is of a very high standard. There are plenty of walks right from the cottage, and it is only a ten minute walk into Hawes, where there is a good choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs, along with a well stocked Spar and deli. The description on the website states that there is private parking for one car, but this is not the case. We had to park our car against the wall outside the property on the public road. This was not ideal as this is on a sharp corner in the road.

Only downside is the lounge which gets very little daylight because of the conifer hedge. Also it is not a warm room but we had a lovely fire most evenings. Generous supply of logs and coal and nice welcome pack and toiletries. Hawes is a typical Dales town with good shops, cafes and pubs all within walking distance. Cottage is in a fantastic location with easy access to shops and pubs. Amazing walks on your doorstep. Kitchen is modern and has good equipment. Bathrooms need updating. The en suites are very small and one was starting to smell a bit. Lounge is cosy with a good log fire. Very little storage in bedrooms especially in one double that has no wardrobe. Garden needs some better garden furniture to enjoy it. You can enclose the garden by closing gates but it is a through way to other properties so dogs and children would need watching.

Excellent location, just a 1 minute walk to the high street. Cottage was clean, and cosy. The stone stairs are quite steep, so be aware if you have mobility issues. The garden smelt strongly of heating oil, due to the boiler and tank being in the garden. Washing machine was in a derelict outbuilding, so wasn’t usable. Cottage had a very nice range master oven and hob. There was a nice log burner. We loved the digital piano, that was a nice touch. As was the goodies. We very much enjoyed our stay.
