  Could you tell me when Sykes last visited this property for yous to claim it is a 4 star property.

  Out of coutesy i emailed the landlord before I replied to your request for a review. My contact number is This is the Email i have sent to the landlord 5 days ago without response. Arriving at the cottage we came into a lovely spacious and comfortable first floor . The small lobby had a dog bowl and towels that was very pleasing for our dog Poppy. The kitchen was spotless with all the updated mod cons anyone could wish for. A bottle of red wine from the owners was a lovely touch. A nice dining table to eat from was also amust. Entering the spacious spottless sitting room found a very comfortable area where you could sit and relax with TV and internet connection which was excellent. However it goes very quickly downhill when going downstairs to the Bedrooms and Bathrooms. Your senses were blasted by lots of plug in airfreshners, reed defusers and random smellies and a plethara of disposable moisture de humiders. Unfortunitly this could not come close to masking the smell of damp. Undetered we ventured downstairs to find nice beds and bedrooms and well appointed spotless bathrooms and shower. Together with lovely clean fresh towels. Trying not to let the smell of damp spoil things we went for a walk and a bite to eat which was more than pleasant. The next morning found the sheets feeling dampish and the overwheming stench of damp. After 2 days our clothes in the wardrobes and the drawers smelt damp and mouldy thus we brought our clothes upstairs and put them all on the kitchen table. We tried another night in bed but the smell of damp became too overwhelming. We managed another night on the sofa but we had enough on the Tuesday morning and we returned home instead of coming home on the Friday which we had paid for.

  Barn House is an excellent accommodation and felt more like someone’s home than a holiday cottage.

  It is nicely furnished giving comfort to its guests throughout the property. Great effort has been made to establish this feeling which is reflected in the good quality furnishings and fittings. It was a pleasure to return to Barn House after our daily excursions into the beautiful Dales. Off road parking for two cars is ideal and if more space is required there is a free car park nearby as well as plenty of on street parking spaces. The location is ideal for those seeking the rural country life with easy access to a number of public footpaths The amenities were ideal although I was aware of the comments of a lack of a Tumble Dryer which, I suppose with some guests who wished to do their laundry during their visit in inclement weather, may have been beneficial but it didn’t effect our stay one bit . One other small point was that the front of the house is somewhat of a sun trap during mid afternoon and it would have been nice to have a bench /chairs situated there permanently to have enjoyed it. A very point I know and not detrimental to our visit which we thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend Barn House to friends and family and wouldn’t hesitate to return to again.

  The cottage was in an ideal location for driving out to the surrounding villages and towns with Leyburn only 1.5 - 2 miles away for any shopping, eating drinking. It was very spacious enough inside with the lounge having 3 settees for us all to sit on ( 5 people) with also a large dining room and table in the next room with a joining door for the kitchen. The cottage was very warm which we were grateful for after the icy temperatures outside. The bedrooms were also all large enough to move around in comfort and also with a large family bathroom upstairs as well as the en-suite in one of the bedrooms. The small toilet under stairs also came in very handy. The parking at the rear is big enough for 3 cars and is only approximately 15 feet from the back door for unloading all your items,suitcases or shopping. We all enjoyed our stay here with everyone we met being very friendly towards us including the villagers in the local pub "The Cross Keys".

  A very spacious cottage, with the benefit of off road parking. Good quality furniture in all rooms, and the beds are very comfy and cosy. The heating is very efficient, and the cottage was never cold. The electric wood burning effect stove has been removed though. Also note, the washing machine, recently replaced, is not a washer/dryer. A generous quantity of teabags, coffee bags and biscuits was supplied, but bring your own milk as there are only two very tiny bottles of milk, ie miniature whiskey bottle-size. A rarity in self catering properties; the towels are proper sized bath sheets unlike the small bath towels provided in many cottages. Good wifi connection. All in all, a good choice for larger parties, with good sized bedrooms and lots of clothes storage space. As it sleeps six, and we were just two, it can work out fairly expensive for a couple but we would return if there was a special offer.

  Fabulous cottage, very high spec and the attention to detail means that everything has been thought of from the well equipped kitchen to the toiletries in the bathrooms. Lovely cosy and warm house and although there were a plentiful supply of logs we didn't need them. A gorgeous welcome box awaits you with lovely local products and a homemade delicious cake. We had a lovely warm welcome from Claire who was very helpful and kept us updated about local conditions during the recent wet and snowy weather. The hob was a challenge to use but it turned out to be operator error! The gardens are very nice and well equipped with BBQ and hot tub although we didn't use them because of the weather. A quality property - highly recommended
