  This is a wonderful part of the world and Ellerby was a great place from which to explore it.

  We (a 3-generational family celebrating a Special Birthday) found The Old Dairy to be just perfect for us. The kitchen is a great size for all to gather in during the day, likewise the lounge in the evening. It was extremely, clean, comfortable and full of everything one could wish for - great kitchen equipment, lovely books and toys for the children to use and the Welcome Hamper and flowers were much appreciated. It was obvious that great attention to detail had been paid to the property. The garden was also a bonus with beautiful far reaching views to the sea. As well as doing a couple of good walks, we also explored Runswick Bay, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. The Magpie Cafe in Whitby didn't accept dogs but Abbey Wharfe (on the other side of the river) did and the food was great. The neighbours were particularly friendly and we really enjoyed our visits to the Ellerby Inn where the food was great and we were made to feel very welcome. All in all we had a perfect week (even the weather was pretty good for February!). Thank you Sarah, Richard and family.

  We had a great stay at Fair Holme and happily recommend it to anyone reading.

  The description's accurate, you'll be comfortable and have everything you need, but something it doesn't convey is how airy the house is - those high ceilings really add to an impression of space. If you're in a group, go and bagsie the room on the right at the top of the stairs straightaway. If you fail at that, think about showers when choosing between the other two rooms, because the shower in the middle room is pretty tight. There are a few comments about struggling to work the telly. It's fine, but it's digital-only and the controller does have an unusually small home button, just an outline on the top left of the group round the Ok one. It's also missing the plastic battery cover. We stuck a laggy band round it, if that's gone you'll need to keep the batteries in with your thumb. Watch out for the seal at the bottom of the shower gate in the utility room. We couldn't work out the trick to it, so ended up with a small mopping job after hosing down the (unappreciative) dog.

  We had a lovely few days staying in this property.

  We loved its close proximity to Runswick Bay and the Cleveland Way although it was so windy we didn’t explore as much as we could have! The property is very tastefully furnished with the added touch of Christmas decorations which was well appreciated. We found the beds and lounge very comfortable for the 4 of us. Parking was no problem in the space outside with our estate car. We liked the games selection although there was no game board in the Articulate box. As the owner says in the guest book- the hot water is extremely hot and I wonder whether mixer taps would be useful for safety? The kitchen was very cold. There was an overhead heater but no batteries in the control to turn it on but this is easily remedied. We had everything we needed for self catering in the kitchen. Overall we loved our stay and hopefully will be back again

  We had a lovely stay in Lion Cottage, Hinderwell.

  The cottage was very comfortable for the 2 of us (might have been a bit cramped for 4) cosy to come back to after a day out and very well equipped. I think it was very good value for money. The cottage does not have WiFi, and we frequently had no phone signal because of the thick walls of the cottage. This was not a problem for us - until we needed to contact the 111service for some advice in the middle of the night. I couldn't use the on-line service and when I phoned the phone kept cutting out. It was just unlucky that I was unwell while we were there (fortunately nothing serious that was sorted with antibiotics) but when we are more and more reliant on online services these days I feel WiFi would be an added benefit to the cottage. Other than that we had a lovely stay and would recommend the cottage.

  A very clean and nicely decorated cottage down a narrow lane which meant parking had to be as close as you could get on the busy main road.

  I found the double bed very comfortable, but the lounge sofa very uncomfortable unless you raised the seat on cushions. The shower was adequate and a non slip mat is provided, but the toilet cistern needs attention. The kitchen is badly laid out with very little work space particularly if you will be cooking for four. Bring your own favourite can opener. There is a DVD player with the TV but bring your own to play on it. Also bring games etc. in case you get a rainy day and can't sit out in the pleasant front garden. There is a good bus service through the village - every half hour each way - which I found useful. With a few tweeks and additions this would be a nice little cottage.
