What our customers say about their holidays
Nikki - Verified booking
We made our booking at the last minute as we had to dodge bad weather where we live, to continue our holiday around the West Coast of Scotland.
We were more than pleased to arrive to find such a welcoming home----a home away from home. It was a perfect layout for an adult couple with a dog. We had a secure front garden that had the most spectacular sea views and views towards Skye. On my morning walks from the front door, all I had to do was to cross the road to be at the waterfront and further down, a pebble beach where I saw otters swimming. The bedding was good and comfortable, the lighting was good as well. Downstairs, we most enjoyed an open fire in the living room at night and a coal burner in the dining room which lead to the kitchen. Even as a cook, I found everything I needed to prepare meals from scratch. There isn't a large surface to prep food, but the kitchen has everything you would need, and a lovely new washing machine and (finally!) a tall fridge/freezer. There is a separate bathtub and a cubicle shower with an aerated Mira shower head which provides the extra !oomph! to the water pressure and it's a great experience. The owners provided us a wonderful welcome basket and the first thing we did was to sit outside and soak up the sun with some wine. Might I add that it was 3 degrees C, but thanks to a sun-trap front garden with a bench and table, we were able to find a wonderful area to sit and watch the sea. There is a busy road, but don't let that put you off as the garden is secure. The most convenient SPAR is located less than a 2 minute walk along the road. They have a great selection of food: fresh/vegan options/meats/ even Stornoway black pudding. A great selection of wine and spirits too and many local items that are often missed in the big stores. They had everything apart from logs/coal at that time, but in future, I am sure they will. Co-Op is just 3.7 miles away and they have everything for the fireplace and burner. From there, you can access the Skye Bridge easily and it's visible from the garden. Note: great photo opportunity when you see the moon above the Skye Bridge! The owner stopped by when he saw me in the garden just to make certain we were happy with our stay. What a joy. We will be back! Thank you sincerely, Nikki, Martin, Miles (woof)

Stayed two days in summer.
"lochside" really means beside a tidal seaweed patch that isn't nice to look at, not useful for boats, and uninhabitable with midges in summer, having driven the lengths of scotland I've never seen midges like it at this location. Location is on the other side of the loch so its an age to the shop in reality on bad roads, one takeaway that was always closed while we were there. Cabin has open fire so stinks of smoke, no attempts to clean by owners, who will expect you to clean for them, or charge your card without permission to do their job. Beds are tiny and hard. Decor is 70s esq, nice thick carpets to absorb the musky smell of the fire."award winning" we all found amusing on arrival. Kids hated it as TV wouldnt work and Wifi was awful. (I know I Know but kids like wifi, reality) Trades on location but its just another rental on a row of rentals. A typical skyes property tbh should know that by now. Avoid in future. Was charged hundreds of £s without consent for a wonky picture, a ring on a coaster (I'm not making this up) and crums on a floor. Apparently cleaners in this area are not very efficient. Avoid like the plague, Scotland has so many cheaper nicer places.

This is a great place to get away from it all.
The house is on a very quiet road and in a beautiful loch side setting, surrounded by stunning views. From the beach by the house there are clear views of the dramatic 5 Sisters of Kintail and itâs possible to see Eilean Donan castle across the loch in the other direction. We loved the peace and quiet, the lovely local walks, the birds, the seals in the loch and the red deer in the hills behind. The house is comfortable and spacious with garden all around, woods behind and plenty of outdoor seating to sit and admire the views. We found it was also lovely and warm with both central heating and open fires in both reception rooms. And we were impressed with the level of cleanliness too. Communication with our host, Carol, was excellent and she had provided welcoming touches such as fresh flowers and complimentary toiletries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tigh a Phailean.

We really enjoyed our stay at Craigard.
The welcome pack of wine, shortbread and milk was much appreciated, especially the wine! Everything was very clean and the cottage is very well equipped with everything you might need. The bedrooms are very spacious and the bed very comfortable. Although the kitchen area is small it works well being connected to the dining room. All the rooms have excellent views over Loch Alsh. While we were staying both the stove and open fire were out of use but the electric heating kept us warm despite the weather being very cold for early May. The cottage is set just off a main road but that didnât bother us and it was easy to get around. Thereâs a little garden to sit out in weather permitting. A fish and chip van arrived just over the road on Thursday evening from around 5.00 - 7.30 and they were excellent.

Peaceful, clean cottage directly on beautiful Loch Duich.
Cute snug living room with fireplace / TV / games, nice dining area, small kitchen with great washer/dryer combo (no dishwasher), brilliant water pressure in the shower, and comfortable beds/linens. The closest shop is 30min away, so it would be nice to have an option of small grocery list (i.e. bread, milk, butter, eggs, jam, etc) to be provided at an extra charge. Very limited condiments / spices are provided for cooking, knives are all extremely dull, and all non-stick pans are flaking Teflon off. Also, no clothes detergent or softener provided for washer/dryer. Midges can get pretty bad at dawn/dusk, so having Smidge available would have been a nice extra so we could take an after dinner walk. Overall, we had a lovely stay for exploring Isle of Skye.
