Ty Pren is located down a lovely winding country lane on a quiet farm.

The lodges are set within an idyllic location away from noise with amazing country, sea views. At night you can see the lighthouse lit up, with the beam glancing across the lodge, a truly amazing sight. The small cluster of lodges are suitably distanced from one another, which allows you to have the privacy you need. With Two cars, Four guests and a Four legged companion there was more than enough space for everyone. The Lodge was inviting from the moment we opened the door, a bright, spacious layout which surprised us. Upon entering the main lounge, we found a bottle of wine and a welsh cake which was most appreciated after a long journey. The owners also supplied tea, milk and sugar to get us started, with a well equipped kitchen and a washing machine and tumble dryer if needed. There are local shops just a short drive down the road which is suitably stocked or there is a Tesco supermarket about 30 minutes away. The area surrounding the lodges is a country, coastal walkers dream. A beautiful Ten minute walk over the fields brings you down to Porthgain Harbour, you will be pleasantly surprised by how friendly everyone around the harbour is. The Sloop Inn is a great place to eat and have a nice drink to rest awhile and enjoy the scenery. The Shed is a sea food restaurant which has a wide range of food to suit all tastes, you will not be disappointed. There is boutique shops with artworks and the seaside nik naks for those wanting to take home a souvenir, with a free public toilet and car parking with Two designated charging points for electric vehicles. The views, atmosphere, coastal walks, great food and drink will make you want to stay longer next time. Thanks for a great stay and we hope to rebook sometime in the future.

When we arrived at the cottage and opened the door we were met with the very strong smell of damp coupled with the strong smell of air freshener.

Our children had 5 separate holidays cancelled over the course of Covid which was no ones fault but this holiday meant so much to them. They didn’t complain to us about the smell otherwise we would have immediately left! but their twin room was actually the worst. There was a sagging ceiling with yellow stains above where the drawers are and the smell of damp was truly overpowering. The lounge too was very smelly with black mould stains up the wall behind the tv. We felt unable to put anything in the cupboards draws or wardrobes as they were all very pungent. We managed to stay for 6 out of the seven nights we stayed out of the house for as much of the day as we could, but on the 5th day it finally it got too much and affected our chests and so we agreed with the children and we left early the next morning. We complained to Sykes who said had contacted the owners and they asked if we had any photos as evidence?? And when we said no they never got back to us! In my mind us having no photos should make no difference we book EVERY holiday we go on with Sykes! Never have we complained before. Never have we had reason to either! We just wanted them to visit the property themselves and address the 4 rating until the health & hygiene standard of the property was brought up to scratch but sadly we had no further response. We felt that to be very upsetting and unacceptable. I am afraid that the owners must know there is a damp problem as their are cheap plastic dehumidifier units in the twin room and the lounge, aside from the obvious sagging ceiling and black mould so to allow people to go to the house without sorting the issue in so unfair on all their guests. Please between you address the problem before someone else visits as it’s really awful to have your holiday ruined especially after all everyone’s been through. Thanks

Carnorfa is a lovely cottage ideally located near the centre of the village with quick access to shops and pubs.

It's bit like a Tardis, looks small from the outside but very roomy inside. Basement has a bathroom with full bath and a small living room with TV. The entrance floor has the well equipped kitchen with a washing machine and separate dryer and a dishwasher. A large cooker with all the pots and pans you may need and a coffee machine. Pleasantly surprised by the welcome back - butter, bread, milk, etc. The fresh bread was fantastic! The living room had two sofas and an arm chair and a gas fire. The TV was a smart TV. Upstairs was a bathroom with a nice tub and a separate shower and two bedrooms. The top floor had sky lights with views to the sea additional seating and another shower room and a very comfortable bed. All the showers were pressure showers apart from the one in the basement which was electric. The street is a little narrow but there is enough space to park your car but remember to place the bin in the space when you go anywhere. Near by there are a few pubs - we tried them all and all had something different. Don't forget to try the cellar bar! We were there in early April and not everything is open all week at that time so make the most of going out from Thursday to Sunday. Day trip to St David's is a must along with was walk along the coastal path there. Stunning scenery awaits you!. Allow about 2 hours for the walk which is mostly flat except towards the end. Overall, Carnorfa is an ideal place to stay at and the property is modern and well looked after and equipped with the everything that is of high quality. You get what you pay for!

We have stayed at Ty Pren previously and we were not disappointed with our return visit.

There is a bumpy, potholed dirt track down from the farm to the lodges so a suitable vechile is required. I wouldn't arrive in a lowered vechile but you dont need a monster truck either. I drive a ford focus and we made it up and down there with no issues. Nothing has changed, apart from the weather. Whether sunny or rainy it's always a great time here away from it all. The views are still amazing and it is so peacefully quiet, its like being away from everything. You can walk down to Porthgain, cutting through the fields is quicker and going over the bridge with the water running underneath is so tranquil. The Sloop Inn is a great pub with amazing food, drinks and great staff, well worth a visit. The coastal walks are breathtaking, miles of views you will always remember. The blue lagoon is just a 5 minute drive away, just put Abereiddy Beach in the satnav/maps and it will take you there. There is parking on uneven, stoney ground so be aware of this before going. There is a charge of around £5 which is collected by someone before you park, i would advise to have the change to hand. They also provide public toilets which are free to use, no 40p required here. I would highly recommend a visit here. You can also walk from Porthgain to the Blue Lagoon, for those able to do so. Saint David's is also close by, amazing cathedral, shops, pubs, cafes all you could need for a great day out. To sum up, the lodge itself is worth the visit. The scenery and location is just an added bonus, I will most certainly be returning again.

What a lovely surprise awaited us when we arrived, flowers, bread, tea,Welsh cakes, crisps, wine and some chocolate These really made our first night …….

Thanks Rowan cottage is a comfortable cottage just off the main high street in Builth Wells The cottage had everything we needed, and was very clean and tidy The double bed on the third floor was very comfy we slept very well, on the second floor there are 2 single beds and a lovely bathroom with both a shower and a bath The ground floor is shared with a kitchen and a cosy living room with a log burner which we didn’t use as it wasn’t cold enough The garden was a great bonus for our dog Plenty of shops on Castle street and pubs think we counted 7 There’s some lovely cafe’s too we only visited the Cwtch cafe which do a lovely full breakfast for £5.95 if you don’t fancy cooking We really enjoyed our stay the only problem was when we first booked we thought we had WiFi as it did state WiFi but elsewhere on the listing it states coming soon which we didn’t see It wasn’t a problem for us, but was for our son and be aware the phone signal is very patchy depending on your supplier There is on road car parking outside the cottage but we never managed to park there Behind the property is a Co op were you can pay to park over night or there’s a free carpark in town The photo of the cottage really doesn’t do justice to the quality of the cottage on the inside it really is lovely I’m sure we’ll be back as we enjoyed the area so much and thanks for calling us to let us know we’d left our dog bed which allowed us to come back to collect it
