What our customers say about their holidays
Ruth - Verified booking
Being in the centre of the Village was fantastic, the location absolutely perfect with masses of parking close to the front door.
The garden exceeded our expectations and was larger and very child friendly. Having the adjoining cottage for our own family too was just perfect as we could 'hop over the wall' very easily. The cleaners had done a fantastic job - the place was immaculate and we were allowed to put things in the fridge and leave suitcases whilst we went on my husband's Memorial Walk before the correct 'checking in' time. We found the cottage fabulous for entertaining as Allendale used to be hour home town and of course folks kept dropping by - all very impressed by the quality of the furnishings, décor and were the best equipped self-catering places we have every stayed in (and I used to own a 5 star time share) so I am used to quality but these cottages are 'top notch' and I cannot recommend them too much - we dearly would love to rent them again in the future if it is possible. I feel that anything like the Dale Townhouse and Dale Cottage will be a very hard, if not impossible standard to meet elsewhere and thank you so much for organising them.

Dale cottage was very comfortable and well equipped.
Given the weather during our stay the log burner was a great benefit. The bed linen and towels were to a 5* hotel level. Highly recommended for a stay if visiting the area It is a great location to visit the area, seem to be a favourite of walkers/hikers The residents of Allendale were very welcoming, The Forge provided a great breakfast,(also the butchers offered tea/coffee, bacon and sausage rolls as well as excellent homemade pork pies and meat) Sunday Lunch at the Kings Head was fantastic and great value for money, the cost of wine and food in the village pubs was a lot cheaper than in the tourist spots such as the town Corbridge which has lovely shops a fantastic cake shop and historical sites, well worth a visit. A Pizza van with wood fired oven visits weekly, fantastic pizza! also a "gourmet" burger van on a Friday

Lovely cottage, well equipped.
The downside for us was a noisy party who stayed at the Dale Manor House. These two properties are part of a terraced block. They all have separate gardens and a larger communal garden for all properties to share which runs along the bottom of these separate gardens. The large party were very noisy (adults and children). They moved benches so they were directly at the bottom of our garden on the other side of a low wall. They had a dog off lead when all signs clearly stated to be on a lead. We were unable to enjoy our garden due to the noise and the lack of privacy and unable to let the dogs out as they would if jumped to wall to play with the off lead dog in the communal garden area. We payed a lot of money for our relaxing week away and lost at least two days due to the above.

First impressions are the cottage is done to a high standard but in need of some TLC.
I always judge a place by how good a sleep you get and unfortunately the beds were so uncomfortable. Maybe a mattress upgrade would fix this. There was also a funny smell in the back bedroom. The garden is nice and big and might be dog friendly for larger dogs that cannot get through the large gaps in the gates but not for smaller dogs. Although not a fault of the property owners but our stay was not a relaxing one due to work being done on the property adjacent with a great big wagon being parked in front of the living room windows for most of the time and work starting as early as 4am. Hammering and sawing woke me up several times. Was looking forward to getting home just for a good nights sleep. We wonât be returning back here.

Here at the moment, and will be returning again.
Lovely cottage, with everything you could possibly need for your break away from it all. Comfy beds, nice enclosed garden. (Really important for us with two big dogs.) Looking forward to coming back and seeing the communal garden completed. The cottage also has its own garden. Three pubs within a minutes walk, all which do food. A lovely tea room and a little cafe again with a minutes walk. Needless to say we ate out every night, although the kitchen is well equipped. A few photos of walks and the dogs chilling on the garden, and relaxing at the pub. Further afield Hexham Abbey is worth a visit, as is Hadrians Wall.
