What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely house in a great area, itâs a beautiful part of the world!
Lovely beach nearby. Beds and pillows were comfy, sofa was comfortable but small for 6 people, although with the pool table you couldnât really get a bigger sofa in. There is a hairdryer, iron, ironing board and clothes airer which werenât listed. We really enjoyed using the hot tub and pool table. As a previous reviewer said, the hot tub is emptied and cleaned at the end of your stay so itâs clean for the next guests. They also came out one lunchtime during the week for maintenance. Although we werenât aware they were coming so had only just got out of it but itâs good to know itâs maintained well. We realised the microwave was in the top oven thanks to previous reviews, but with no instructions we had to figure it out. I can see why others havenât realised itâs there. The TV doesnât have any terrestrial TV and only has access to streaming services so you need to have your own accounts to use it. (Martin you left your YouTube logged in, we signed you out!) Cleanliness was mostly ok, although when we arrived we found there was sticky drink that had been spilt on the sofa arm and floor which we cleaned up. The toothbrush pots in the bathrooms were used and still dirty. The BBQ still hasnât been cleaned (as per previous review) we didnât use it. Some cutlery and utensils had dried food stuck to them. The bathroom locks are very stiff, which has been mentioned in previous reviews but clearly nothing has been done yet to fix this. When we first arrived the house was really hot (the thermostats showed it was 26 - 28° in most of the rooms). We opened all the windows but couldnât find a key for the patio door at the front of the house. We also had an issue with the door to the utility room, it actually fell off the hinges when we opened it, fortunately not onto one of the kids. We later found out it was newly replaced, but obviously not installed properly. There was no contact number in the information folder so we tried to contact the number in the booking email, but there was no answer. We did leave an answerphone message but didnât hear anything. We tried periodically over the weekend and finally got hold of someone on Tuesday (we arrived on Saturday). Apparently the office is shut at weekends and bank holidays but they didnât actually bother to contact us in response to the answerphone message when they were there. According to them, the key to the patio door has been lost and the management company made no offer to replace it for the owner, and the only thing they said about the utility room door was âit was ok when we left itâ. Not helpful at all. No offer to come and fix it. Later during our stay we realised there is a leak from the ensuite shower which is above the front door and dripping through the ceiling. However, again we were unable to contact anyone to report it. I dread to think what would happen if there was an emergency because the management company are useless. Sykes Cottages and the house owners really need to address this. There is no recycling bin at the property so all rubbish has to go in the main bin, although we chatted to a neighbour who said there should be a recycling bin and we did see a recycling truck drive passed so no idea why this is not available.

Our stay at Wild Acres was a blend of beautiful moments and significant disappointments.
While the property itself is situated in a fantastic location, certain factors dampened our overall experience, some of which seemed easily avoidable. On a positive note, Wild Acres boasts a great location that made our stay memorable. We appreciated the efforts made by our hosts to rectify issues as they arose, demonstrating their dedication to creating a pleasant experience for us. However, our arrival was marked by the absence of a number of amenities that were promised in the listing (and I notice that the listing has not been amended since). It was disheartening, to say the least, as we had specifically chosen this holiday home for a special family celebration. The most striking discrepancy was the external kitchen - while the listing explicitly mentioned a sink, fridge, dishwasher, and barbecue, we found only a sink on our arrival. The hosts did provide disposable BBQs later, but the missed opportunity to cook outdoors and enjoy the stunning terrace view over our first two days was a disappointment. Further, the shortage of an outside fridge was exacerbated by the inadequate size and missing shelves of the inside fridge, which limited our capacity to store our cold items effectively. Apart from this, there were minor frustrations such as an unexpected shortage of wine glasses - for a five-bedroom house, it's quite odd to initially only provide five wine glasses. Even though more were delivered later, it would have been preferable to have the appropriate amount from the beginning. Additionally, our request for a stair gate, made prior to our arrival, was unfulfilled. We also encountered maintenance issues such as a broken plug and lock in the bathrooms - issues that were rectified later, but marred our initial experience. Overall, we had a great time at the property but felt that we did not get what we had paid for.

Harveyâs House was the perfect place to retreat to.
We received a very warm and friendly welcome from Jenna and Nigel, with a delicious cream tea and a hot hot tub ready. Perfect! Harveyâs house is a very comfortable and cosy place to stay. Its new decor and furnishings have been thoughtfully and joyfully created for this new venture with everything you could possibly need from air fryer, dog paw cleaning cups, to sheep design toilet roll holder!! The Christmas decorations were a beautiful touch too. There are three spacious bedrooms each with its own decor theme. The open plan living space works well with a beautiful outlook on to the garden. The hot tub is AMAZING, strong jets, pretty coloured LED lights. It was so relaxing and special to be outside in all weathers with the moon and stars above, in between the wind and rain. The weather didnât matter! It was quite easy to get the tub back to temperature each day. Jenna and Nigel were very responsive to our questions and any issues were sorted promptly. Harveys House is quiet and private, located in its own woodland garden bordered by a river. Woodland walks from the house made it a perfect place for us and our two four-leggeds. All in all this has been a perfect place for our short winter break. Thank you Jenna and Nigel for all the work you have put into making this such a lovely homely place. We wish you well on this new venture. We definitely want to return again soon and will highly recommend Harveyâs House to friends and family. N.B Please read the directions carefully and donât follow the SAT NAV and end up having to turn round in a neighbourâs garden!!

Tranqulty house was lovely, and made a great base for the holiday, unfortunately the site facilities were very lacking.
We were out most days but usually got home around 8-9 and thought it would be nice to end the day up at the bar to play pool , and have a drink on the terrace. And maybe meet other people on the site. On the Tuesday we decided to have a day at the site and use tranquility garden to relax. The bar reception was not open until the evening despite advertising everywhere shop open , bar take away breakfast etc. Jacuzzi and sauna was not open, being fitted that week , we found out u can use the splash pool by a code, we were told bar was franchised out , we were told it hadn't opened Sunday night as staff had covid so no one to run it. *We ordered take away on that Tuesday and when asked for salt sachet to go on chips, we were told they didn't have any, but we could buy a bottle off salt instead from the shop.! We had salt bk at the house but that seemed an insult. *It advertised quiz nights , when we enquired the bar manager said we don't do them as no one shows up? Again why advertise it then. ? *We enquired about breakfast, bar man told us the chef had quit the week before so no breakfast. Again tk the advert away!! I would tk tranquility house and place on another site I would, surrounding area and local info provided by tranquility owners was great, such a shame that to end the day , u had the bk garden or a very lack lustre bar with no atmosphere , infact we felt by just going in to get a drink we were causing inconvenience.... We booked the holiday not just for the cottage but the facilities it mentioned on site. ...!

For a start the holiday cottages were well sign posted!
Cottage was spotelsless and some biscuits for our dog and cake tea coffee etc was a nice touch on arrival. Everything you need was there. Although the air conditioning took a bit of working out it was a great addition and would cool or heat the cottage up very quickly. There was a walking area for my dog and lots of thought has gone into this site including outside showers for humand and dogs!!!!! Maintenance guys were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool saunas and hot tubs are a genuis addition which is why we chose these cottages. Nice and warm too ! Again very well maintained and very clean. Ample parking even if you cant park outside your own accommodation and literally only a minute away. Struggled to find any negatives too be honest. The saunas etc are open at 8.30am to 6pm and if they could open a little bit earlier and a little bit later that would be really useful but thats just based on us. Would definitely stay again and looking to bring the family back later in the year.
