What our customers say about their holidays

An incredible place, even as a solo traveller!I absolutely loved my stay at The Pheasant, I have been daydreaming about it since I left! I stayed for two nights as a solo traveller on a delightfully sunny February weekend. The accommodation itself was very cosy, the bedding was incredibly soft and comfortable and it was a battle with myself to get up and out so as not to waste the day away in it! I am a keen birdwatcher and was delighted by the number of birds on the property alone, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Linnets, Green Finches, to name a few. I even heard a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming nearby. Sadly didn't catch any hoots of owls come nightfall, but I was blessed by an uninterrupted view of the stars, and some planets too! It gets completely dark out and thanks to the nearby observatory is a protected dark sky, so stargazers will be thrilled. The facilities (bathroom, cooking, and cleaning) were plentiful, and I wasn't left wanting for anything. The handheld vacuum under the sink came in very handy, too. I paid extra for the hot tub and was very glad for it. It takes a little while to warm up, and I hadn't fed it enough wood (but Julie was incredibly helpful over text when I asked for help). It stayed warm over night and was still usable the next morning. I also used the chiminea. There is a very affectionate cat, Brian, who visited, and we hung out on the deck owing to his ban from the hut. He's very playful and will happily hunt a stick for you.The local area was lovely for both long and short walks, with some horse traffic. The area is quite agriculture-heavy and there are some larger farms within a 20-minute walk radius so keep an eye out for machinery on the roads. The local village of Great Ellingham is very pretty, and I ate lunch at The Crown which has some good vegetarian options. Do also pop into the medieval church nearby to see some original paintings. The hut was warm and the Alexa was very useful for music and was easily heard from the deck.I don't drive and got a taxi from the centre of Norwich for £28.50 each way. The location was easy to find and well signposted, and the directions in the visitor pack and confirmation email were clear and easy to follow. Walking to local amenities wasn't a problem especially with the sunny weather.Overall, I would highly recommend The Pheasant to anyone who's considering it. It might have been a bit of a squeeze for a couple, but certainly not uncomfortably so. Do also spend the extra money to have the hot tub access, it was very dreamy under the stars. I am very much considering coming back!

We visited here in March for our wedding anniversary, not done glamping before but would definitely do it again after having a wonderful couple of days here. We spent the days walking & the nights in the hot tub looking out over the Yorkshire countryside & the twinkly lights on the horizon. The accommodation is very nice, loved having the robes to lounge about in & although it was gorgeous in the day the nights were cold but the underfloor heating made everything feel so cosy. The bed was so comfortable. Paula was a great host mixing just the best amount of genuine hospitality with letting us enjoy the solitude of our break together. Meeting the family dogs was the icing on the cake. We'd definitely recommend & have already been singing the praises of The Pheasant Roost to family & friends. Thankyou Paula & Tim for a brilliant break.

We went to Little Lodge for our wedding anniversary & a little break away to relax.
Little lodge was a very nice and a clean place, with all the mod cons. The hot tub was amazing too. The little pub & bistro on site is also worth a visit. Emma the owner greeted us on our arrival she was very lovely & kind. The only negatives we found was the only baking tray provided didnât fit the oven & the shower in the en-suite was too small it may benefit from a bath instead. The weather wasnât the best but we made the most of the week away. We visited a few other places (Hunstanton beach, Norwich, Wells-next-to-the-sea & Cromer) which were very nice apart from the heavy rain. But overall we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this Little Lodge.

We can not recommend Little Lodge enough!
What a gorgeous little getaway in the most stunning little lodge! The lodge was nicely decorated, extremely clean with everything you need to live comfortably. I must say the hot tub was the most amazing addition to that lodge, lovely to relax in, during the evenings. We went to relax for a couple of days, not wanting to do much travelling, so to discover there was a clubhouse on site was a real bonus. Full of lovely locals, and great management. Food and drink both reasonable priced and great. Emma and her partner was lovely hosts, it was a pleasure to meet them. We are booking our return to the lodge this evening and already look forward to returning.

The lodge is based on a site with other lodges around.
Thereâs a nice little cafe/bar on site which is a nice place to go if you donât want to make lunch yourself. The area is good for walking in as there are trails in walking distance so no driving needed. The lodge itself was a lovely place. Clean and cozy. It was nice to see that there was a selection of leaflets to look at to see what was around in the local area. It was also to our surprise that it was a proper hot tub instead of the blow up one shown in the photo. Me and my boyfriend loved spending our time there, any issues we had Emma was there to help. Definitely recommend.
