What our customers say about their holidays
David - Verified booking
Your presentation of this cottage contains the following statement: "The spacious rear garden of this Embsay cottage is ideal for dining alfresco.
.." Anyone considering a holiday in this cottage should be aware that the owners (who live next door) have direct access to its rear garden via gates in their boundary fence. Part of the cottage garden is used by them as a vegetable plot, which they enter to cultivate and water (we were staying in summer) without notice. This means that anyone wanting to use the cottage garden for "dining alfresco" or anything else should be aware that the owners are liable to appear in the garden at any time. We had this experience a couple of times, including one morning for several hours. Some people will not mind this, while others may feel that they do not have the full run of a facility (the cottage garden) that appears to form part of the advertised offer. The owner's use of the cottage water supply (via an outside tap) to water his plants can also mean there is not enough water pressure inside the cottage for showers etc. The cottage itself is excellent, clean and good value for money.

We had the best time, couldnât give any overall negatives!
Supplied a small bottle of milk, as well as tea, coffee, sugar and some snacks; thank you:) There was also a small pot of oil, salt and pepper. The fanâs in each bedroom were a life saver during the hot night, not to complain as we were very lucky to not have rain all week. The only thing to add if weâre being picky, we felt it wouldâve been a bonus to ensure there are extra bin bags, washing up liquid, kitchen spray and hand soap in each of the bathrooms! And ensure all other essentials are stocked up! But other than that itâs one of the best cottages we have stayed in:) For anyone else staying in this lovely cottage I would just add that we found it easier to reverse onto the drive due to the cottage being situated on a bend/blind corner. Plenty of space for 2 large cars/small van. Would highly recommend!

We spent five nights at this fantastic cottage. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is very tastefully decorated with all of the period features you’d wish for in a Dales cottage. The woodburner was great for those cosy nights in. The location was perfect. You can access some great walks from the door. Burnsall and Grassington are reached via the river and there are so many more options within a short drive. This corner of Yorkshire is stunning, we’ve visited many times and this beautiful cottage in Hebden is the perfect base. Will definitely return. The owners were so friendly and helpful when we had questions, thanks guys.

We had an amazing 3 restful nights in this beautiful cottage which clearly has been done up to the high level of attention to details and decor.
The Jacuzzi is certainly the highlight of our stay as well as the bottle of wine and chocolates as a welcome gift plus a pint of milk. These gestures are so important and makes the entire experience sextra special. The fact is is dog friendly was a big plus for us as we don't go anywhere without our pooch who also enjoyed his quiet walks along the canal which is situated just off the cottage. The bed was remarkably comfortable and spacious. Loved it! Would without any doubt recommend and will definitely be back! A couple of minor suggestions but NOT a complaint... Just some improvement opportunities

This is probably the best equipped holiday home we have stayed in.
There was everything we could possibly have needed, including a hair dryer. The location is excellent with two good pubs in the village of Embsay who both do food (check with them first though). There is good access to lots of tourist attractions in the area, including Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey, Wensleydale Creamery and Aysgarth Falls. One tip is to run off a bowl or so of water from the hot taps before trying a shower as it can take a long time for the hot water to reach it, but it's no trouble at all. There are a lot of places we didn't get time to visit, so will definitely be back.
