What our customers say about their holidays

We were very disappointed with the cottage.
It was far from the high standard we usually receive when we book with Sykes. 1. The bathroom was in a poor decorative condition. The radiator was rusty and did not always heat up. The bathroom itself seemed dated and not in good condition. Surfaces had not been cleaned and the shower cubicle had discoloured grout. The toiletry holder in the shower was also rusty. 2. There was obviously a problem with the heating system. When it came on it was very noisy and the radiators did not always heat up. On the last morning we woke up we had no heating or hot water. This was remedied by early afternoon. 3. We used the washing machine, but our clothes came out with black bits on them. On closer inspection we could see that water had collected in the seals and the machine had not been maintained. 4. The outside area had not been prepared for visitors. The outside dryer had algae on it, as did the table for sitting out. The area where the table was situated had not been cleared of moss and weeds. We had a period of good weather before and during our visit so would have liked to have made more use of this. The cottage was spacious for two people but lacked the care and attention to make a comfortable holiday property.

Hunterâs Lodge is a bijou annexe to the ownerâs house set aside the large driveway.
Our first impressions were of how compact it is yet myself, my partner and our cat spent 3 comfortable weekâs over Christmas in privacy. Everything we needed was provided and the annexe was spotlessly clean. The ownerâs, Tracey and Andrew were the perfect hosts. They are friendly, approachable and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were house hunting and their offers of help from loaning us boxes, pointing us in the right direction and forwarding our mail was greatly appreciated. Set in a quiet village with a great pub and a good menu within walking distance, it isnât far to drive to local shops or into Norwich City for the shopping experience. Goodieâs is a super farm shop with fantastic restaurant within a short driving distance. There are plenty walking areas and small historical towns such as Diss and Harleston to explore all with good cafeâs, restaurants and interesting smaller shops. Summing up, We would certainly stay at Hunterâs Lodge again, and wish Tracey and Andrew well in their future.

The Hay Loft was a delightful property tucked away in 8 acres of tranquil country side.
We could not believe how quiet it was which made our stay extremely relaxing. Every thing inside was above standard it was spotless and well cared for. We had everything that we would want and carol had left a welcome pack that was much appreciated. We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival. While we were there we were lucky enough to see rabbits pheasants all manner of birds and even had a visit from a Muntjac deer all at the bottom of our garden. We would certainly return to this delightful property which is situated so as it is easy to reach the local beaches plus plenty of places of local interest.

This cottage was in a beautiful, idyllic and tranquil setting, away from the world.
Birdsong and the occasional rumble of trains on the Bure Valley railway- a 5 minute walk away up a narrow lane -was all we heard. We spent our holiday cycling down traffic free country lanes and walking along the path beside the train. Moonlight cottage is centrally situated for exploring Norfolk although it was too hot for us to do that. We walked to the river Bure and enjoyed pub lunches nearby. Would highly recommend hiring a day boat to see the nearby Broads. The cottage itself was well equipped for a self catering holiday, and spotlessly clean. We wouldnât hesitate to return.
