"Lovely weekend break in S37808. Beautifully furnished and very clean. The only thing that lets this accommodation down is the bath towels which were thin and barely bigger than hand towels. Such a shame."
Denn – 16 Nov 2018
"Great location to explore the Lake District and Staveley has superb amenities and coffee shops as well as a fantastic starting point for walks or cycling. The cottage was warm and cosy! On street parking was the only possible down side but wasn’t a problem for our stay."
Nancy – 9 Nov 2018
"Absolutely fabulous cottage, with super amenities. Would definitely stay there again."
Paul – 12 Oct 2018
"Loved the cottage, area, plenty to do even at back end of the year. Great base for walking. All that you need to relax when you return later in the day. Two ovens ideal. Parking can get a bit manic but none the less a great holiday."
Valerie – 28 Sep 2018
"An excellent cottage and exceptional value for money. Lovely touch with a bottle of prosecco on arrival and tea and coffee. Needs drawer space in the bedrooms or on the landing but apart from that ........................ PERFECT"
WHYTE – 21 Sep 2018
"Lovely cottage had everything we needed and more. Great having ensuite in both rooms as well as another bathroom downstairs. Maybe the only thing on the downside is that if the weather had been better and we wanted to sit outside there isn't a view in the back where you sit but to be fair that is a minor thing as we were out every day."
Tracy – 24 Aug 2018
"We had a week in this lovely cottage in August.Quiet location with nice pub within walking distance as was the Spa,and butchers for supplies. We had no difficulty parking whilst we stayed there and would happily stay there again!"
Confirmed guest – 30 Jul 2018
"Nice clean cosy cottage, few small repairs required. Downstairs bathroom in need of a revamp to bring to the same standard as the rest of the house. Had an enjoyable weekend stay, local pubs and shops really good"
Dali – 27 Jul 2018
"This cottage was a great place to stay , very cosy and clean.i would recommend to clean front of the cottage and back garden , next door makes lot of noise in the evening! But people of this village were very nice ! Over all I appreciate there cleansiness!!"
Julie – 20 Jul 2018
"Spent a week in Staveley to explore the lakes. S37808 is fabulous, has been finished to a very high standard and is in a great location. Minor point no storage drawers in bedroom and bath towel are not bath sheets. All in all a very enjoyable stay and no hesitation in recommending a stay at S37808"
Megan – 13 Jul 2018
"Staveley was the perfect base for our visit to the Lakes. We really enjoyed the local pub, joined in with the football celebrations and Thursday night quiz! We tried the croissants from the local brewery, beer from the village brewery and daily catch from the fish and chip shop - all really good value and of good quality! The cottage itself was lovely, perfect size and in a great setting. Would definitely be back."
Alan – 25 May 2018
"What can I say, we loved it! Thank You."
DOROTHY – 11 May 2018
"This was an excellent place to stay. Local amenities were brilliant, with the local pub about 100 yards from the front door where excellent food was served every day. Add to that a local brewery, cafes that served great food making it an ideal stay. The amenities in the cottage were great and the cleanliness first class. The only reason we have rated 9 for the first question is that the storage of clothes in the bedrooms is poor, however, having said that I'm not sure how that could be rectified as the space has been taken up providing 9th rooms with shower and toilet facilities which was really good. Access to Windemere was close within 8 miles an travelling around was easy. This was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the South Lakes"
Confirmed guest – 27 Apr 2018
"Nice accommodation but there was very little information about the cottage in the handbook. We had no idea what to do with bins etc. Space in the bedrooms is very limited"
Steve – 20 Apr 2018
"I have stayed at this cottage on a number of occasions over the last 3/4 years. It is a fantastic place, ideally located for a relaxing break. However, it is in need of some ongoing maintenance. In the front bedroom/ bathroom alone the following needs attention - the shelf above the sink is falling off, the light fitting above the sink has a bulb cover missing, the toilet roll holder/ towel holder both require fixing back to the wall. the shelf in the bedroom itself is leaning down at a precarious angle. In the kitchen there was a ceiling light out and the magnetic knife holder is loose. In the main seating area the front cover of a double electic socket was loose, It could also do with a review of the crockery (some of it is chipped) and although knives, forks etc are plenfiful some other kitchen equipment ie, weighing scales, potato masher etc would be useful and other things like the large frying pan need replacing altogether as you can't get it clean. I appreciate that these are all minor things but sorted out the accommodation I feel would definitely be worthy of a higher rating"
Jess – 30 Mar 2018
"Lovely cottage finished to a high standard. Close to Kendal for main shops and a short drive gets you into the heart of the lakes."
Jane – 9 Mar 2018
"The cottage was really lovely. Log burning stove was a great touch. Showers were powerful. Just a couple of things would have made things better. A potato peeler, more than one dish washing tablet, additional bin bags and four matching dinner plates. The welcome pack was lovely, the beds and bedding were really comfortable. It was really clear that a lot of thought had gone into the refurbishment of the cottage. This us the fourth property we have stated in, in Staveley and this would be my number one choice"
CRAIG – 2 Mar 2018
"Lovely cosy cottage ,very warm in this freezing weather.Situated within yards of the local Pub so did not have to drive for meals out.Shop and Post Office also within yards .The Cottage was well equipped with two ovens, hob, washing machine and dishwasher,fridge/freezer and microwave.Compared to other cottages we have used we found it lacked in small details e.g.no extra bin bags,no clingfilm, foil etc,no tumblers in bathrooms."
Carol – 9 Feb 2018
"A very modern well equipped and tastefully finished cottage in a good location for exploring the lakes. There is a warm cosy friendly pub called Eagle and Child just minuets away which sells good ales/whiskys and severs excellent food. Cafe Wilfs is in the village which also severs good food and does a good value breakfast."
Victoria – 14 Apr 2017
"Great stay in S37808 which has a great location in the village of Staveley, with the river right outside your front door. Lovely view from the master bedroom of the river and fell behind it. The cottage is very modern and clean and is like a luxury home from home! Two ensuites as well as bathroom downstairs were so handy and the log burner gave out great heat (logs can be easily purchased from the local shop) Village has pubs (only one open during out visit) a brewery, an amazing bakery, a butchers, a cafe, a coffee shop, a fish and chip shop, as well as a large playground just across the road from the cottage. The village itself has plenty going on without being touristy, and you're a short drive away from Windermere and within easy reach of the rest of the southern and central lakes. We wholly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend, and will be visiting again."
David – 31 Mar 2017
"Lovely cottage in a lovely position unfortunately we did not receive a welcome pack or initial supply of logs as stated on line when we booked . However we would stay there againproviding everything stated was supplied."
Lorraine
"Fantastic stay, can't wait to book again"
Elaine
"Lovely cosy cottage. Great places locally to eat and drink. Easy to get to and plenty to do in the area. Excellent local bus service. Shame about the volume of traffic passing the cottage, due to the bridge problem. This should be sorted by April 2017."
Karen
"Wonderful well equipped cottage in an excellent location to explore the lakes"
michael
"lovely cottage in a beautiful location"
Julie
"I found the beds very hard, however, this is the only complaint. More information about recycling would have been helpful.Cottage comfortable, kitchen reasonably well equipped, more plates etc might have been useful.Ensuites good and very welcome.Brewery down the road was excellent as was the train station. Excellent recommendation of the walk into Windermere and train back was very enjoyable.I would return, but might bring mattress topper as not sleeping very well did detract from the overall experience. The bridge being out may have resulted in the little road being busier than usual, with people parking all along Gowan terrace. Not an issue for us, but if have small children beware of the road as traffic does come round the corner near the cottage very quickly.Wood burning stove was fantastic and central heating worked well.Welcome pack was a nice touch, many thanks."

"The cottage was basically nicely presented and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would probably come back. There were a few problems that reallly need fixing the worst of which was a water leek from an upstairs shower which resulted in water coming through the downstairs ceiling. The fridge door was also insecure which led to food getting to warm. If these problems could be fixed, we would strongly recommend the cottage."
CAROL
"BEAUTIFUL COTTAGE,GOOD BASE TO EXPLORE THE LAKES, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND"
Paula
"Cottage was clean and contemporary. It is exactly as the photos show you on the website. The village has a paper shop, post office, spar, butcher, chemist, artisan bakers, cafés, brewery and pub. Everything you could need on your door step. It is easy access to the lakes from here. Wish list for the cottage: proper oven gloves, poker/brush/dustpan for the stove and a few more clothes pegs."
Anne
"Beautiful, clean and well equipped cottage."
David
"A lovely cottage in an excellent location, beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Two small en-suite shower rooms and a downstairs bathroom. Large televisions in both bedrooms and open plan lounge area. The kitchen has two ovens, a hob, microwave, washing machine fridge, freezer and all the necessary kitchenalia. It was so good to have towels provided and we much appreciated the biscuits, milk and Prosecco left for us.There is a quiet , sunny yard where one could sit at a table. On the negative side, the duvets were very hot and sheets would have been useful in what turned out to be a heatwave when we were there. Also, the mattresses were quite uncomfortable being much too hard for our taste.A number of spotlights were not functioning, especially the ones in the two en-suites as were the shaving lights in one.We had one torrential rain storm and discovered the guttering was broken and a roof slate had slipped. We reported all these problems and hope they are rectified before the next tenants arrive. We struggled also, to work the DVD player and finally gave up the struggle!Despite these fixable problems we thoroughly appreciated this cottage and will return without doubt. The proximity to the Eagle and Child and its excellent meals was an added bonus. We know - and love -Staveley. It has everything one could need on a holiday in this wonderful area. Kendal and Windermere are an easy drive as well as magnificent surrounding countryside."
Paul
"We really enjoyed our visit to the Lakes, nice central location for North and South Lakes, good pubs close to the cottage."
Jacobs
"The cottage was lovely and in a great location for easy access to the Lakes, and a pretty quiet spot in the village (the bridge was closed though so I wonder if more traffic than usual was passing the cottage). There was all mod-cons inside, everything we could have needed, and very comfortable and clean. The milk and bubbly in the fridge were a nice touch too. The Eagle & Child pub at the end of the street served good food, but the kitchen in the cottage was also good for cooking. I'd certainly return."
Barbara
"A lovely spot and the cottage was very clean and tidy. Unfortunately the beds were extremely uncomfortable so we were tired at the end of the holiday. There was a lack of drawer space which meant living out of a suitcase all week which is not ideal. It was lovely to have two ovens but a great pity that some basic equipment was missing - potato peeler; basins for mixing and kitchen scales. That said we managed quite well. The wood burning stove was lovely and kept the room very toasty. We enjoyed our holiday despite these draw-backs."
Barbara
"Very well equipped clean and comfortable cottage. Great location. Would not hesitate to recommend,"
steve
"Excellent well equipped bijou cottage in a lovely village, ideal location for walks, good pub / food close by. Wouldn't hesitate to use again !"

"Great cottage Very well appointed. Particulairly liked 2 en suite shower rooms."
Pauline
"Great cottage, cosy and comfortable in an excellent location."
Colette
"Lovely cottage, ideally situated not far from Kendal & Windermere, pub 1 minute walk away - food was amazing, brewery 5 mins walk away well worth a visit, the cottage had everything you need, will definitely stay again"
James
"Great holiday, lovely cottage which is very keen and well equipped."
Gill
"A very comfortable cottage in a great location. Clean, warm and good instructions on how everything worked. Lovely little garden, great local pub, brewery and cafes and brilliant to be able to leave the car and use public transport to return from walks. And also the most amazing Board Games compendium and other games, DVDs- excellent. Nice to be in a quiet spot by the river and locals really friendly and helpful.A few things would help- we arrived and found no corkscrew so made an emergency purchase which we left for the next occupiers, an oven glove/mitts would be helpful as would a jug and one or two larger bowls/plates as well as some small bags for the bin and a dishwasher with salt and rinse aid lights not flashing- happy to provide tablets but not everything else! Bathrooms good but anti-slip mats would be good and also no drawers to put things in, just a wardrobe with a very high top shelf that was difficult to reach. But overall a fantastic week away."
Deborah
"We had a great break at S37808 and would highly recommend the cottage. All the facilities are first class and of a high standard .The welcome pack was most useful and a nice touch. The Eagal and Child pub at the end of the road was so convenient - good pub food and a welcoming staff but you do need to book a table as it's very popular, also had a first class full English breakfast at Wilfs cafe on our last day!"
Julie
"One of the best cottages that we have stayed in we really enjoyed our stay there."
