What our customers say about their holidays

An absolute gem of a cottage in a picturesque village with a fantastic pub 2 minutes down the road serving great beer and fabulous food.
The cottage itself was warm and very well equipped with beams throughout a lovely stone floor in the living area. The kitchen has all mod cons and we cooked and ate in several times. Tea towels, washing up liquid, hand wash, dishwasher tablets and dishcloths were all provided. The spacious bedrooms are carpeted and have high vaulted beamed ceilings. The beds are extremely comfortable and had nice quality bedding so we all slept really well. Great shower with plenty of hot water but if you need more you can control that and the heating yourself. We didnât need to as there was more than enough for the four of us. The en-suite bedroom has a toilet, sink and bath with a shower attachment too. The owner lives next door and was very welcoming and friendly. We arrived to find a delicious Yorkshire Brack, organic whole milk and eggs waiting for us which was a lovely touch. You can sit outside a have breakfast in the lovely little dog friendly enclosed garden which overlooks fields if the weather is warm enough. You can buy eggs, milk and logs for the wood burner in the village. The nearest shops are 2 1/2 miles away in Kirbymoorside which we walked to on footpaths. Thereâs a large Co-op and a smaller Spar if needed as well as smaller independent shops and cafes. There are some great walks right from the doorstep with Hutton-le-Hole easily reachable across the moors. We also visited Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby which are under an hour by car. The whole area is stunningly beautiful and very dog friendly with most pubs, cafes and shops welcoming you in. We wouldnât hesitate to return.

Just returned from our 4 day stay in this lovely cottage which is extremely clean with everything you would need to make it home from home.
The location is great for easy access to lots of places in North Yorkshire, both by car or train. The train station is 5 minutes walk and it takes 10 minutes to get to Whitby or Grosmont. Also bus access to Whitby and Pickering and all locations in between. We got the train to Grosmont and walked to Goathland then got the bus back to the cottage. We do have a car but chose to use public transport, parking can work out expensive. I have marked the cottage down on comfort as the mattress was far too hard for my liking. I donât mind a firm mattress but this was hard, and also when the other half moved in bed, it was like being on a trampoline. However it didnât stop us from getting a good nights sleep. The heating was preset to come on at 6am and 4pm for an hour each time, and we couldnât figure out how to override that, or increase the temperature to more than 20 degrees. We did contact the owner who was prepared to change the timing of the heating which they could do remotely. We made good use of the log burner however that can work out quite expensive. There is a small garden to the front, which is not secure for dogs, and no rear exit. We would definitely stay here again - 4 days wasnât long enough to visit all the places we wanted to visit.

A lovely cottage situated in a quiet village.
The garden has a patio with chairs and table and looks over rolling fields. It is like the Tardis - does not look large from the outside but very spacious inside with all rooms having plenty of space. Rosemary, the owner, had left local organic milk and eggs as well as cake as a welcome and lives next door in case of any problems, but we had none. She popped round on our 2nd day to welcome us and gave recommendations for places to visit and eateries, which are also given in the welcome letter. The property was nicely presented and clean, comfortable beds and chairs and the shower in the wet room was excellent. In all a lovely and quirky property and we would recommend it as a great place to stay to explore the area. There are washing and bedding facilities for 4 legged friends, but not required by us, as we have no pets. Thank you for a lovely stay, despite the weather not behaving itself towards the end of our week.

Lovely cottage for our little Christmas break.
We found the cottage warm and comfortable and well equipped to cook our Christmas dinner, apart from the fact that there was no hand washing soap in the kitchen, neither was there a washing up sponge or a cloth for wiping down surfaces, this meant I had to go out and buy these (I am used to other properties providing these basic items). We also found the box for the television difficult to understand and we were very limited to which channels and apps we could access. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom cosy. We loved our evening walks around the village with the dog as it is quite peaceful once you get away from the main road. All in all a good place to stay, and the welcome pack provided was a very nice touch. We can definitely recommend Ramblers Cottage.

We've just spent a week at Ramblers Cottage and loved our stay.
The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of books and games to entertain should the weather be against you. Comfy beds, hot shower and the log burner complete the cosiness. The maps, walking guides and things to do leaflets were very useful. The cottage is a 3 minute walk from Sleights train station where you can get the train to Whitby, a 10 minute journey away. Loads of places to visit within a 30 minute drive including Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay and Pickering. Thornton le Dale is also about 30 minutes drive away and is a lovely little village. The butchers in Sleights is amazing and the Spa very handy for general essentials. We had a lovely break and will definitely return.
